IIT Kharagpur
Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur is the mother of all IITs, founded in 1951 to lead India's industrial and technical revolution.
Established at the site of the Hijli Detention Camp, IIT Kharagpur is the oldest and largest IIT, spanning a massive 2,100 acres. Ranked 5th in NIRF 2025 (Engineering), the institute offers the widest range of programs, including unique courses in Law, Medicine, and Architecture. It houses 19 academic departments and 13 schools of excellence. The 2025-26 placement season saw a peak package of 2.68 Crore PA, with over 1,500 offers in Phase 1.
