The wait is officially over for tens of thousands of medical post-graduate aspirants across India. The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) has officially commenced the NEET PG 2026 registration process. As the single-window entrance examination for admission to MD, MS, PG Diploma, Post MBBS DNB, and Direct 6-Year DrNB courses, this is the most critical milestone in your medical career journey.

This year brings some massive structural updates to the application and exam center allotment system, making it absolutely crucial to fill out your application with zero mistakes. This comprehensive, step-by-step guide walks you through the key dates, eligibility parameters, document requirements, and vital rule modifications for the 2026 cycle.

NEET PG 2026: Important Dates & Schedule

The registration portal opened at 5:00 PM on July 1, 2026. Unlike previous years where students hurried to apply within the first few hours, NBEMS has explicitly altered the timeline dynamics this year. Major Changes Introduced in the 2026 Cycle

NBEMS has rolled out several significant updates to ensure fairness, security, and smooth logistics. If you are operating on old assumptions from previous application years, take note of these key changes:

1. No More "First-Come, First-Served" for Test Cities

In previous terms, candidates rushed to complete their applications on day one to secure their preferred exam cities. This year, test city allotment will not be done on a first-come, first-served basis. Submitting your form on July 1 provides no structural advantage over submitting it on July 15. All allotments will be processed systematically after the registration window shuts.

2. Aadhaar-Based Authentication

For the first time, NBEMS is implementing real-time Aadhaar-based authentication and verification throughout the examination lifecycle. Your identification details must match your official Aadhaar data precisely.

3. Strict 3-State Choice System

When filling out your exam center preferences, you are required to select three preferred test states:

  • First Preferred State: Must strictly match the state of your correspondence address filled out in the form.

  • Second & Third Preferred States: Must be neighboring geographic states to your primary correspondence state.

Critical Warning: Once submitted, your correspondence address and preferred test states cannot be modified under any circumstances—even during the correction window. Check this data multiple times before clicking save.

Eligibility Criteria for NEET PG 2026

Before launching into the online application form, verify that you meet the baseline eligibility conditions set forth by the National Medical Commission (NMC) and NBEMS.

  • Educational Qualification: You must possess a recognized MBBS degree or a provisional MBBS pass certificate issued by a medical college recognized under the provisions of the NMC Act, 2019.

  • Compulsory Internship: Candidates must have completed or be on track to complete their one-year compulsory rotatory internship. The absolute cutoff date to complete this internship for the 2026 admissions cycle is September 30, 2026.

  • Medical Registration: You must hold a permanent or provisional medical registration certificate issued by the NMC or a State Medical Council (SMC). You will be required to upload and present this document during counseling and on exam day.

  • Foreign Medical Graduates (FMGs): Indian citizens or OCIs who completed their primary medical qualifications outside India must have successfully passed the Foreign Medical Graduates Examination (FMGE) before applying.

  • Age and Attempt Barriers: There is no upper age limit to sit for the NEET PG 2026 exam, nor is there a ceiling on the number of attempts a candidate can take.

Step-by-Step Guide to NEET PG 2026 Registration

To ensure a smooth application process without losing your progress or encountering validation errors, follow this exact sequence:

1.New User Registration:Step 1.

Navigate to the official NBEMS portals at nbe.edu.in or natboard.edu.in. Select the "NEET-PG" tab and click on "New Registration". Input your legal name, date of birth, gender, a valid mobile number, and an active email address. Submit the form to receive your unique User ID and password via SMS and email.

2.Filling the Application Form:Step 2.

Log back into the portal using your newly generated credentials. Fill out the comprehensive application form carefully. This includes personal details, academic history (MBBS marks, university information), and internship details.
