Eligibility by Category

SC/ST Students

  • Must be Indian citizens enrolled in a recognized school/college/university.

  • Annual family income limit varies by scheme (commonly ≤Rs. 2.5 lakh).

  • Minimum academic performance (usually at least 50% marks in previous class/year).


OBC Students

  • Indian citizen with valid OBC caste certificate.

  • Family income limits per scheme (often ≤Rs. 2.5 lakh to Rs. 4.5 lakh).

  • Must have cleared the previous academic year with required marks.


General / EWS Students


  • Eligible for select central merit-based schemes (e.g., Central Sector Scholarship).

  • Income ceiling varies by scheme (up to ₹4.5 lakh or higher).

  • Must meet academic merit criteria (e.g., pass last exam with required %).


Minority Students (Muslim, Sikh, Christian, Buddhist, Jain, Parsi)


  • Belong to a notified minority community.

  • Indian citizen and enrolled in a recognized institution.

  • Family income limit generally ₹1 lakh (pre-matric) to ₹2.5 lakh (post-matric).

  • Minimum 50% marks or equivalent in prior exam.



Academic & Other Common Criteria


  • Students must be enrolled full-time in a recognized institution.

  • Minimum marks in prior exams (often 50–60%) depending on scheme.

  • Must not be receiving another central government scholarship for the same level.

  • Distance education / correspondence courses may not be accepted for certain schemes.
